Markit: Russia’s Services’ PMI falls to 53.5 in August

MOSCOW, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in the Russian services sector decreased to 53.5 in August from 55 in July, according to a Markit research note published on Monday.

The index remained above the 50 mark signaling an overall stagnation of the sector.

“Service providers continued to demonstrate that they are the main factor driving the overall upturn of Russia’s private sector at present, as August survey data signaled further solid increases in both business activity and new business,” Samuel Agass, economist at Markit, said.

According to the survey, the input price inflation and pressure on operating margins is a concern for the continuation of the Russian services sector expansion.
